Steps Towards Admission: General Entry Conditions as a matter of principle, all applicants to this College must fulfil the following basic requirements: (a) Be at least twenty years of age as at the time of completing the Admission form, substantiated with a birth certificate. (b) Present to the Faculty of the College satisfactory evidence of sound Christian character and call of God in preparation for Christian Vocation. (c). submit a letter of recommendation from their church duly signed by appropriate Church Officers. (d). Take and pass an entrance examination and personal interview. (e). Meet the academic requirements for admission as stipulated by programme of study. (f). Show promise of continual and spiritual growth and potential for future usefulness in church and society. (g). Applicants who are married must have a legal proof of their marriage. Such marriage must be registered under the marriage ordinance, before they can be considered for enrolment in the College. Proficiency in both written and spoken English is required.
i Candidates who have obtained at least five 'O' Level WASSC/SSCE/NECO or GCE credit passes at not more than two sittings including English Language, and any other four subjects. ii. In addition to above, holders of Bachelor's degree in any field recognized by the Baptist College of Theology, Lagos must have a minimum of Second Class Lower Division, iii. For holders of Higher National Diploma (HND) from recognised Polytechnics with a grade not less than a lower credit who must in addition to (iii) above possess a recognised Postgraduate Diploma (PGD). iv. All candidates must sit and pass written entrance examination conducted by the College, v. Successful candidates in written examinations shall be invited to attend a compulsory oral interview at a scheduled date by the College, vi. Programme Duration – Four academic sessions (8 semesters minimum) is expected for a weekend admission while a student admitted into the weekday programme shall be required to spend three academic sessions (6 semesters minimum) in order to complete and earn a Master of Divinity Degree of the Baptist College of Theology, Lagos vii. Grading System – All courses taught during each semester shall be examined at the end of that semester and candidates will be credited with the number of units passed. There shall be no re-sit examinations. Furthermore, all courses shall be examined by continuous assessment through assignment, term paper, periodic tests which shall constitute not more than 40% of the total marks for the course. End of semester written examination shall constitute not more than 60% of the total marks for the same course. The Cummulative Student Average (CSA) system shall be used for the determination of the class mark. The final mark shall be a whole number with letter grades and grade points awarded as follows: Mark: 70% & above Letter Grade: A; 60 – 69% : B; 50 – 59% : C ; 00 - 49% : F (Fail).
For the weekday programmes. The minimum entry qualification is five (5) 'O' Level credits in WASCE/GCE/NECO at not more than 2 sittings. This must include a Credit in English Language. There is no waiver on this. The programme duration is 4 academic sessions and 3 academic sessions for Diploma Studies from other Baptist theological institutions. However, such prospective candidates with Diploma must have at least B+ grade in some major courses or else such courses will have to be repeated. To earn the Bachelor's Degree of the College, a student must have put in at least 140 credit Hours. The College adopted the 7 points grading system A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+ and C. Continuous assessment (C.A.) grade is 40% while the final examination is 60%.
